Until recently this jaw harp is now played by the Viet people them selves and other ethnic groups. The name dan moi translates into "instrument of the lips". Originally the dan moi has been hand carved from bamboo. Today the dan moi is made in factories and is widely sold as a "tourist" instrument. Traditional danmoi are a lot more thinner and flexible currently modern danmoi are a lot more durable.
